YG Announces Fifth Studio Album ‘MY 4HUNNID LIFE’: Multi-platinum American rapper and actor from Compton, California, Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson, professionally known as YG, announced his fifth studio album, MY 4HUNNID LIFE, set to drop October 2.

Following the album announcement is the video for the single “Equinox,” which features 4HUNNId label-mate and protégé Day Sulan. She previously was featured on YG’s album 4Real 4Real on the track “Her Story.”

Equinox” is the follow-up to YG’s tracks “Swag” and FTP, the latter of which made waves in the midst of the George Floyd protests as a social justice anthem.

The Bompton-based rapper also appeared on the updated version of “Fight The Power” that Public Enemy released just after announcing their signing with Def Jam Recordings and plans to release an album later this year. The updated version makes reference to the 2020 election and today’s social injustices. Other artists featured on the remix include Nas, Rapsody, Jahi, and Black Thought and Questlove of The Roots.

In a recent interview with The Morning Hustle, the rapper and activist opened up about his own experiences with law enforcement.

I’ve been through a lot of other stuff with the police. I’m from the streets, you feel me, so I got a target on my back already from that. When you from a certain area, the police are going to f__k with you.

He added, “It’s sad to say but when [you’re] Black, you feel like that’s what comes with being Black. It’s normal.

Aside from his music and philanthropy, YG also made an appearance in 2018’s White Boy Rick alongside Matthew McConaughey, and in 2020 played himself in FXX’s Dave.
